Buscando....

Por fin... volveré a tener tiempo para hacer lo que más me gusta: DIBUJAR.La sensación que ahora mismo se ha metido en mi cuerpo no la cambio por nada del mundo...

Comienza una nueva etapa y... con ella comienza la búsqueda de una línea nueva de trabajo... Primero fueron líneas imperfectas, masas de color, mucha caligrafia de fondo... Luego aparecieron mis personajes de tres brazos y siempre con algo en la cabeza pero dondo todavía predominaban los fondos coloridos y muy elaborados... un poco aburrida de tanto repetir frases en esos fondos que a veces eran incluso mas atrapadores que el prepio personaje... decidí dar un cambio rotundo y con él nacieron esas criaturas limpias, elegantes, serenas, sencillas ... caracterizadas por sus ojos cerrados que invitan a intentar adivinar qué pasa por sus cabecitas. Ahora... todavía no sé lo que toca pero de lo que sí estoy segura es de que me lo paseré genial. Ganitas tengo!!!!

what to do? ....

To be honest... after a year working really hard... I feel a bit down. Of course, I really want to carry on but it is not easy sometimes. I have been trying to be a business woman but I am not sure if it suits me. Just I know that I haven't had enough time to draw and feel free for at least half a year... and drawing is what I really like to do. Of course I love to share with you all what I do but because I am just learning sometimes I get lost and as lonely as this beautiful house... But I am sure I will find the way... my way.

Nice to have time to do nothing... have a coffee and a good conversation about "anything". Sometimes we forget that the little things are the most important. Have a good weekend...

Calendario 2012

Por fin... se hizo rogar pero ya lo tengo entre mis manos!!! se trata de una edición limitada de 50 ejemplares... echos con todo el entusiasmo del mundo.

Por supuesto... no hubiera podido conseguirlo sin la ayuda de mi gran amigo Jose. Bonito recuerdo me llevo de todo el proceso que me ha permitido volver a recordar lo interesante y satisfactorio que es trabajar en equipo. Este calendario no es mio es ... nuestro calendario.

Friday night

It was very special to me... my first exhibition.I don't feel confortable been the center of attention but ... in this case I wasn't because my creations were the most important. So, it was easy. Lots of  little things came to make it a very special night: the chats with new people about my artwork,the wine, being with friends, the lovely John+Sue's homemade food,...

Christmas cards

After a while trying to get my first christmas cards ...

Here they are!!! I designed this dolly ages ago thinking about christmas...

So once I had to choose which ilustration to use, it was easy to decide.

Mi first exhibition!

First of all thanks to salt&pepper for giving me the chance to do the exhibition and...  to Jose Abolafio -my friend- for helping me with the disign of the poster and the flyer. I think he has done a very good job!

And secondly, I have the pleasure of inviting to all of you to the exhibition Just a word... -art in a shop-. 

Who: Maria Leal  - me - ...   “I choose a concept... I find the word that defines it... I repeat it over and over... until I achieve an image that tells something to the person who is observing it”.

What to sell: original art (made with words), handmade and quirky gifts without a gallery price tag.

These were the words that my Sophie (one of the twins who I look after) said when she saw my ilustration: "The princess is sleeping". I couldn't  stop to smile... because time ago a friend of mine -Tobin- said: " some people can think they are a bit sad for children". Here is the test... they children are clever...

Officially it is the end of the summer... but ...

I can't wait for the new season.

Here in London I realised that I like it. 

...For me the dry leaves are the fishes of the grass.

Maybe it's because I love the sea.

Los dĺas de verano... se fueron... llegó la rutina y con ella retomamos los proyectos aparcados.

No. No es el  cuento de Caperucita. Es uno de mis cuadernos...

Es cierto que ultimamente estoy dibujando menos de lo que me gustaria... pero ... para compensar .... os adelanto que ...

tengo entre manos novedades que os contaré a la vuelta de las vacaciones.

Es por eso por lo que dibujo poco ...porque... he cambiado los lápices de colores por cuadernos de anotaciones donde organizar lo que pasa por mi cabeza. Os mantendré informados...
